Côte-d'Or. A licensed taxi driver, he is "worried about the future"

Taxi drivers were scheduled to demonstrate on September 5, but given the current political situation, they preferred to wait to deal with the new government. However, a new agreement is due to come into effect on October 1 , which will change their compensation for transportation under the health insurance system. They would like to begin negotiations to obtain more advantageous rates or keep their old ones. A report from Sébastien Arnas, who has been driving a taxi under the health insurance system since 2022 in Côte-d'Or.
"I had meningitis in April. I'm paralyzed all down my left side. I'm having rehabilitation sessions [at] the Divio center in Dijon. I make this trip three times a week," says Virginie*. Sébastien Arnas, a licensed taxi driver, picked her up from her home in Clénay to take her to her medical appointment. He's from Longecourt-en-Plaine. But for a few days, he helps out colleagues in the Marsannay-le-Bois area. He has what's called a white taxi license. "It's a rural license outside Dijon. In Côte-d'Or, there are more than 300 of us doing this job in rural areas."
He says he lives "essentially from healthcare." From time to time, he takes care of paid errands, but that doesn't take up the majority of his time. The daily life of a taxi driver with health insurance in the countryside is hectic. "I don't eat...
